The 18th of February marked 38 years since the first IronMan

The first edition of an Ironman was held on February 18, 1978. The idea of its creation was John Collins, an official of the US Navy with his wife thought of combining three sports in a long distance challenge suitable only for the strongest and most daring athletes.

That first IronMan had fifteen competitors, including John Collins. The competition involved the combination of the swimming a distance of 3.86km in the Waikiki Roughwater, followed by 185.07km cycling and running 42km. Of those brave fifteen who took on the challenge, twelve managed to finish the winner was Gordon Haller, who finished with a time of 11 hours, 46 minutes and 58 seconds. Collins proposed came up with the name IronMan for the winner, and now year after year people from all over the world take part in this 3 stage event.

Since the first IronMan, there are many great stories from a range of different people. Here we have listed some of the most important:

Lyn Lemaire, the first Ironman

Only a year after the first edition, the competition was held again, but this time with an initial enrollment of 50 participants. However, bad weather forced the event to be delayed by one day, reducing the number of riders to just 15. This time, the winner of the race was Tom Warren, with a time of 11 hours, 15 minutes and 56 seconds. During this event there was a woman taking part! Her name was Lyn Lemaire and crossed the finish line in sixth place, becoming the first IronWoman in history.

Ironman 1980, international recognition

It was in during the third year of the IronMan when the co-founders gave television rights to WWS. Until then, the competition had been growing in fame in the country, gaining followers and participants but not enjoy international recognition. But the arrival of the cameras and TV broadcasting ended up turning to the test in a world famous race, growing in followers and competitors massively each year.

Julie Moss and the image that went down in history

After just two years since the first television footage of the event when the cameras started rolling during the 1982 edition of the IronMan, they recorded an image that would circle the world. Still there were no social networks and the Internet as we know it today, no Facebook, Twitter or Instagram but in fact, it was not necessary. With just a few meters to go until the finish line, student Julie Moss was leading the race! However, exhaustion and dehydration took over and her legs gave up preventing her from reaching the finish line, but her pride and motivation gave her the strength to dig deep and continue. She managed to find the strength to crawl across the finish line with everyone watching on TV. She didn’t win the race, but she did manage to finish.

John MacLean, an example pure determination

Just being able to finish an IronMan test, no matter the time is a real test of determination, strength and skill. Back in 1997, there was another case which will go down in history as something very special from this extremely tough race. John MacLean was the first paralysed athlete to complete an IronMan challenge. He modified his bicycle so that he could use the power in his arms to move the bike. Definitely a true example of determination for all sports men and women.

Generally, when you purchase a bike trainer, you will be required to pay separately for the simulator software. This adds on to the cost of already expensive bike stationary stand. Bkool turbo trainer has gained prominence in the recent past with its advanced training options and supremely efficient 3D simulator. It is the only turbo trainer in the world to offer 3D virtual videos which make indoor training sessions a breeze. Most cyclists often complain that the 3D videos with other simulators are not engaging enough. With the 3D simulator from Bkool, you can enter the virtual world and forget that you are actually training indoor.

Bike trainer with 3D simulator is all what you need

When you have to train day after day indoor with bad weather, you need some motivation to keep pedaling. While some cyclists suggest listening to your favorite music or movies while pedaling, everyone agrees that the best way to stay motivated is to use biking videos. Several bike trainer manufacturers allow you to download videos, but you have to pay additional price for every video you download. Bkool trainer stands out of the crowd by offering real time 3D videos for free with premium subscription.

The video database is constantly updated and you will never run out of options. There are over 500,000 routes in the 3D simulator software from which you can choose one. If you don’t like the idea of riding with the aid of existing videos, create your own route and upload your video. Moreover, you can also share your routes and videos with your friends so that all of you can race in the same route. Once you purchase Bkool bike trainer, you can download and install 3D simulator software and use it immediately.

Professional cyclists competing in major races won’t settle for anything less than extraordinary when they choose bicycle trainer. Bkool pro trainer is the ultimate choice for cycling pros because this trainer is the best in the industry that can be purchased at half the price of similar trainers. After testing several different cycling trainers in the market, long distance cycling expert Pierre Michael Micalette used Bkool pro trainer for his world record attempt. He successfully completed training non-stop for six days on indoor trainer which is a new world record. This massive success speaks volumes about the performance and efficiency of Bkool trainer.

BKOOL bicycle trainer is now available for all cycling enthusiasts

In the past, purchasing a bicycle trainer is an expensive ordeal that is reserved only for elite cyclists who race in major tours. Now that Bkool trainer is available worldwide, all cyclists can enjoy professional training at home using the most advanced trainer. Bkool classic and pro trainers come with advanced features that are normally found in high end trainers. However, unlike other trainers, they are not expensive. The classic trainer is available for $571 and pro trainer can be purchased for $721.

The interesting feature about Bkool bicycle trainer is the free simulator software that provides access to more than 500,000 routes with 3D virtual reality. Real time videos bring on-road experience to your home and this makes Bkool trainer very special. The premium membership provides unlimited access to unlimited videos and when you purchase the trainer, you will get 1 year premium membership along with the trainer. Afterwards, it costs just $7 per month Netflix style to access videos and 3D routes. The best part of Bkool trainer is that you can try it for free and only pay if you decide to keep the equipment.

Pro cyclists who train using bike trainer stand will have a separate bike exclusively for the bicycle trainer stand. Cycle trainer puts a lot of stress on the back wheel to provide resistance while training indoor and this can cause undue stress on the tires. Some indoor bikes don’t provide front wheel support, which will further cause damage to the bike. Moreover, mounting bikes on and off cycling trainer can be quite daunting and so, professional cyclists mount a bike permanently on the cycling rollers while they use another bike exclusively for outdoor training. Bkool trainer is a revolutionary trainer that is completely hassle free, causing very minimal stress on the bike.

BKOOL bike trainer stand is aesthetically pleasing and silent

One of the common complaints about bike trainer stand is that it is so loud that you can’t share your fitness room with others. Often, cyclists have to exercise in solitude because their family can’t tolerate the sound coming out of the trainer. However, Bkool pro trainer with its revolutionary design has made it possible to use your cycling trainer right in your living room while your family watches movies or shows on TV. The sound emitted by pro trainer is 64dB while the classic trainer is slightly noisier, emitting 75dB which is much less than the noise emitted by a vacuum cleaner.

Mounting bike on Bkool trainer stand takes less than a minute and it comes with a front wheel support. As there is reduced stress on the bike, the trainer is completely maintenance free after the initial setup. You don’t have to invest in another bike for indoor training workouts as you can easily mount your regular outdoor bike on the trainer. Experts using Bkool trainer suggest that you invest in some cheap tires for indoor training so that you can completely reduce any stress on your racing bike.
