From DOTS to FACES

Have you ever wondered who the persons behind the dots on a screen are?
Are they men or women? Are they young or old? Are they tall or low? Are they…?
I have often wondered about it, and this summer some of my curiosity was released

The story starts much earlier. During the winter we have three scheduled live sessions every week in the Danish BKOOL community. Afterwards we often write about today’s session at our Facebook community. Honoring each other, teasing each other or just common talk. After some time you feel that you know some of them a little, but only a little.

In February some of us accidentally wrote about where to go for the summer holiday this year. We found out that four of us were going to Lake Garda in Italy at the same time and we talked about going for a ride together. In the beginning of July we started planning where and when we could meet for a ride together.

At 7 o`clock in the morning on July 12th  Mads Smenge (msmenge), Michael Madsen (Mikmak), Tommy Dahl Troelsen (Tommy Watt) and Jacob Skovsgaard (jacobskovsgaard) met in front of Spiaggio D’Oro in Lazise. After handshaking we started the ride to the summit of Monte Baldo. We are all top-bkoolers in Denmark and know each other’s strengths and weaknesses at BKOOL, but what about the real world?
We rode together until the start of the ascent, and then the competition started uphill which divided the group into two. It was funny to see if the strongest climber on BKOOL was also the strongest climber in the real world (and yes, Mikmak was by far the fastest uphill.

At the summit we had a cup of coffee and enjoyed the beautiful view over the lake and the mountains. We talked together as if we had known each other for a long time (which we also have on Facebook).
The rest of the ride was downhill and flat, so the watt-monsters blew it away BKOOL-style. No one would show weakness 😉
In Lazise we split up after 117 km with 2.300 meters ascent, and we greeted each other for a wonderful ride.

And so it was a great BKOOL-experience without BKOOL, but created by our common interest for BKOOL.
BKOOL can also be used as a network to find training partners for the real world.

Going from dots on the screen to meet each other face-to-face is funny.
