Once again, another edition of one of the great cycling rides begins, welcome to Le Tour. This time it will be in Düsseldorf, Germany, 561.4 km by road from Berlin, former German venue.
Many things have happened, although others remain the same. In 1984 the winner of the tour was an Irishman, Stephen Roche. He was the only representative of his country to win it and also the first non-American or continent territory one. Germany has reunited, the world of cycling is more professionalised than ever, but something can happen again.
Nicolas Roche, son of the yellow maillot of 1984, participates in this occasion. It is unlikely that in this edition the surname will repeat at the top of the podium, but we are sure that we will enjoy every stage next to the top cycling competition.
The Irish have not had the best of luck recently, suffering a fall in the inaugural stage. We will follow him closely if he manages to repeat his father’s deed.
